The Note Reads:
The first thing you learn in the Green Dragon is how to roll out the beer barrels without hitting any of the patrons, other workers, or the furniture. The second thing you learn is that the customer is always right! In this case, I am your customer, and I want some Serene Stew! If you follow the recipe, you should do all right. These notes should help you collect the ingredients you need, so pay attention.
CUT OF BEEF
The trick to buying a cut of beef is to make sure you don't buy too much. Don't swamp the stew with more beef than it needs! The consistency should be thick, but you don't want to overpower the other ingredients.
HEARTY STOCK
You must not underestimate the importance of the type of stock you use for the base of the stew! The longer it has been kept, the better -- assuming it has been kept under proper conditions. Don't buy the wrong type of stock. They're fond of chicken stock over in Waymeet, but that's not nearly hearty enough.
TATER
Just one tater will do. Ensure that it is of a decent size and doesn't give when you squeeze it. If it does, the tater will be too mushy to help the stew, and it will be better to leave it out. And yet, I have asked you for a tater in my Serene Stew! So don't leave it out.
YELLOW ONION
Don't use the green variety! This is a matter of personal taste, but I have found that only green onions will do. I like to purchase these from a different shop than the rest of the ingredients, for then you get regional differences in the stew that can make all the difference.
MOUNTAIN BASIL
You can pick this from atop a hill in the Lone-lands. Travellers sometimes bring me some, but I'm all out. They call the place Weathertop, and apparently the finest basil grows only at the top.
Well, good luck! Collect the ingredients, prepare the Serene Stew, and bring it to me for tasting!
