    • BackgroundWritten in a neatly defined Sindarin script, The Tome of Swords has long been renowned as one of the finest manuals on the art of swordsmanship and battle. Originally written in the early ages of Middle-earth, many copies exist -- but sometime shortly after the end of the Second Age, most of them either vanished or had important passages edited, meaning that most of the copies that exist today are incomplete. The copy you have found appears to be mostly intact, but time and wear have done the duty of whomever wished to limit the knowledge contained therein. There are a few pages that are either missing or too badly weathered to read. Perhaps the dwarf Gimli, son of Glóin of the Lonely Mountain, could tell you more about this ancient tome.
    DescriptionThis is a legendary book quest. The quest begins when you read the legendary book of the same name. You must then turn this book in to Gimli at Gloin's Camp in the Misty Mountains. Finally you must collect the pages of the book and examine them.

    Krane <Guest>Expect to put some time in to farming the pages. The wights are the more difficult of the camps as they have place holders such as rats and crawlers. It took a good 8-10 hours just to get the first 4 from them.

    Ushim <Guest>Hillman did not drop tome of swords pages. They drop artisan blade. ( i killed about 200) I found 3 out of the first 4 pages in Imlad in Angmar from wights. (i killed about 20-30)

    Ushim <Guest> fInnaly figured it out: The drop of pages is not depending on place or time. They depend on NPC level and sort. Let me summarize the conditions for page drops: - Monsters do not drop pages only humanoids. - The NPC's need to be above the lvl of the questlevel. - The drop of pages has a 'increasing rarity rate' - The higher the NPC the better the dropchance - Elite status of NPC modify drop chance by several hundred %. For example (not a real measurement but just to give an idea of the exponential modifier: 1st page 1 out of 10 2nd page 1 out of 100 3d page 1 out 1000 4th page 1 out of 10000. Artisan blade and joy of battle drop pimarly in Angmar and MM. Goblin Town is the best place for these, as the non-elite gobs have an increased treasure drop rating equal to elites. The 1st 4 pages of Tome of swords is the hardest as they will never drop in Goblin Town. Go to angmar for these to increase youre drop rate. For the first 2 drops kill normal wights anywhere in angmar the wights in the Imlad are best for these. for the last 2 pages kill elites in Carn dum to get the best dropchance. all other posts above are places with good drop rates, but every char will find his pages at different places from different NPC's than others.

    Thorndar <Guest>It seems to me that as of january the drop rate is decreased.....now i know this is a legendary trait and all, but there needs to be some rhyme or reason to this. I got 3 pages from hillmen in misty mountains got 1 from goblins in misty mountains and got 3 from evil men in angmar. There is no rhyme or reason to the drop.

    A name <Guest>This drop rate thing with legendary pages is really weird.Some people get ALL of them in just a few hours while others kill and kill and kill an get nothing at all...There must be something that determines whether a player can get pages or whether the monsters will drop them.At least that&#039;s what i think,cause last night i&#039;ve played i&#039;ve gotten 3 champ pages from goblins,and today i&#039;ve killed five times more goblins that i killed last night and i am still missing the last one.

    Elf <Guest>Not only goblins but also the iron crown humans drop the first pages of the tome of swords. I&#039;ve also looted pages from the artisan blade there.
